GETTING IT RIGHT Pt 3; Just before you Jump

Today, I will be concluding on the series Getting it Right. I hope you've been blessed reading and ruminating on it. Remember, it's not the reader that is blessed but the doer. Don't just read for reading sake, share it with others and do what is required of you. Let's consider the last temptation the devil gave and see how we are copying that too.

3. The devil said, if you are the Son of God jump down for the scripture says he shall give his angels charge over thee and in their hand they shall bear thee up, lest at anytime thou dash thy foot against a stone. But Jesus said, thou shalt not tempt the Lord your God.

For some of us that think the devil does not know the scripture, you must have realised how wrong you're from that verse. I don't think it's right to compare ourselves with the devil but on a serious note how will the devil know the scripture and you the child of God, the owner of the Words doesn't know it not to talk of quoting it verbatim. And even some of us that knows it sometimes use it against ourselves by 'tempting' God just like the devil. Simply put, what many of us do is to tempt the Lord Our God. We take His word without applying the wisdom in the Word. We say 'wasn't it God that said this and this in His word' and also I am a child of God, so i'm immuned' and then we began to do things that are detrimental.

For instance, because he said He will supply all your needs then you began to spend lavishly without thinking and planning. Because he said, you're made whole, your sound health is guaranteed,  then you knowingly began to expose yourself to various things adverse to your health( eating anyhow, not taking adequate rest, not caring for your health etc) He said you are protected and then you began to drive, walk, live and do things anyhow. That's simply 'tempting 'God you know.

I'm I saying He is not capable to do what He said? Not at all. Truly He said those things and he is capable but all of what He said must be put in the right context. Even when He said, 'If you drink any deadly thing it will not hurt you...' note that there is an 'if' there. You are not to go around, drinking anyhow and also to the point of drinking something poisonous knowingly and not expect to die. You will die my friend. I've seen people does things all in the name of God said in His word or that they are the sons of God and later regretted it. Is God a liar? No. He is faithful to His Word, in fact, He honours His word above his name. But the problem with these folks is that they don't understand that for the Word to work for you, you must understand it well and not just pick a verse out of context. And that's why you must study and rightly divide the word of truth.

Someone somewhere, sometimes ago saw in the scriptures that Elijah was thrown into the lion's den and the lions didn't harm him and so he went to the zoo and jumped into the lion's den. I guess you can complete the story! But not to make you think much, he was eaten up.

The fact that as a child of God you are supernatural doesn't mean you should start walking foolishly and thoughtlessly. Even Jesus hid himself sometime when they wanted to kill him (John 8:59).

Son of God, don't tempt God. Don't act anyhow and think God's got you covered. Don't go beyond your boundary. Respect God, respect His word and put yourself in complete alignment with His Word.

Thanks for taking your time to read this series and especially this blog, you must get things right and hold on to it. Do well by suggesting this blog to others so that they might also get the insight needed for greatness.

God's Got You

I was on a trip recently and we drove into a difficult terrain. The driver did well by maneuvering the terrain well and got us safely out of it. However, during this drifting, I doubted his professionalism to get us out safely, in fact I panicked, I gave my opinions and advise based on my experience of driving. Unfortunately, my driver will do the opposite, stating reasons why my counsel will not work and truthfully, his judgement always proves to be right and at the end he drove us safely to our destination. This experience got me to think of how many times we have given God our thoughts and advice on what he should do or should have done. We tell him the direction we feel is right for us to go and at times drag the steering with Him. God is to be trusted. The moment you make him the driver of your life, you can trust him to take you safely to a glorious destination. The terrain may be difficult, He might drive you through surprising and difficult places, just hold on and trust him. H...

Nigeria At 55: Look Back...Look Forward.

Yesterday, we celebrated our 55th independence anniversary and while pondering on what to write to commemorate our 55th independence day celebration, I discovered there are a lot of perspectives I could write from. So many topics and issues quickly raced through my mind, like, '55 Years After; How far so far?' 'Independence or Dependence, Where are we going? Etc. But in the midst of it all something exceptional dropped on my mind; which is Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving? Yes. Thanksgiving. Many would be quick to analyse, condemn, discuss and compare the state of the nation being 55 years after we got independence, well, that's not bad. But isn't it good for a man at 55 to thank God for the years past spent? Ask any 55 years old man and he will tell you it has been rough and tough, appointments and disappointments, joys and sorrows, ups and downs, successes and failures, but yet he will be grateful for the privilege of being alive to see 55. How does Nigeria fit in...
