GETTING IT RIGHT PT 2

Yesterday, we started a discussion  on the temptation of Jesus and how we also have been copying the devil in 'testing /tempting' God. In other to make the most of our calling and enjoy more of God's abundant blessings we must get things right. Getting it right starts from changing our age long beliefs and way of doing things that has profited us nothing. Let's consider the second temptation

2. Devil told Jesus, if you bow down to worship me all these things(the kingdom of the world) you're seeing I will give unto you, for it has been delivered unto me and to whomever I will I give it. Jesus responded and said get thee behind me Satan, it is written thou shalt worship the Lord your God, and him only shalt thou serve.

The devil desires that Jesus worships him by virtue of what was delivered unto him, what he got cunningly and not even what he created, because the devil can not create anything. Interestingly many of us also want God to bow down to our will, desires, appetite, emotions and intellect. Thinking we are doing Him a favour. We want Him to conform with our limited minds and plans, we want to fix Him up somewhere in our world.  We want Him to serve us and worship us when we should know that the creator is not meant to serve the creature. We copy the idolaters who reversed the order. They (creature) creates an image (their own handiwork) and then they worship what they made. Isn't that foolishness? But this is not the same with My God. He created us to worship and serve Him and not that He can worship us.

Many of us fail to acknowledge that everything we are and have is from God even the devil acknowledged that those things he had were delivered unto him. Sadly, many even worship the things given and forget to reference the Giver of the things. Please know, that all of you and all you have is to be used to worship God knowing fully well that you are whom you are by the grace of God and no man can receive anything except it be given to him by God.

Just like the devil was rebuked, you will be rebuked too if you try to conform God to be your servant who you give conditions to. Many are fond of saying 'Until God do this and this for me, I won't do that for Him.' Well, it might interest you to know that God is not moved by what you do or what you don't do. Whatever you do or don't do only affect you and you only and possibly the things about you (destiny, future, family etc,)

So, just worship and serve Him for He is the almighty -the Sovereign God and remember if you don't, He is able to raise stones in your stead to worship Him. May you not be replaced.

God's Got You

I was on a trip recently and we drove into a difficult terrain. The driver did well by maneuvering the terrain well and got us safely out of it. However, during this drifting, I doubted his professionalism to get us out safely, in fact I panicked, I gave my opinions and advise based on my experience of driving. Unfortunately, my driver will do the opposite, stating reasons why my counsel will not work and truthfully, his judgement always proves to be right and at the end he drove us safely to our destination. This experience got me to think of how many times we have given God our thoughts and advice on what he should do or should have done. We tell him the direction we feel is right for us to go and at times drag the steering with Him. God is to be trusted. The moment you make him the driver of your life, you can trust him to take you safely to a glorious destination. The terrain may be difficult, He might drive you through surprising and difficult places, just hold on and trust him. H...

Nigeria At 55: Look Back...Look Forward.

Yesterday, we celebrated our 55th independence anniversary and while pondering on what to write to commemorate our 55th independence day celebration, I discovered there are a lot of perspectives I could write from. So many topics and issues quickly raced through my mind, like, '55 Years After; How far so far?' 'Independence or Dependence, Where are we going? Etc. But in the midst of it all something exceptional dropped on my mind; which is Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving? Yes. Thanksgiving. Many would be quick to analyse, condemn, discuss and compare the state of the nation being 55 years after we got independence, well, that's not bad. But isn't it good for a man at 55 to thank God for the years past spent? Ask any 55 years old man and he will tell you it has been rough and tough, appointments and disappointments, joys and sorrows, ups and downs, successes and failures, but yet he will be grateful for the privilege of being alive to see 55. How does Nigeria fit in...
