Career Fulfilment

Many of us work an average of eight (8) hours a day five (5) days a week between the age of 18 to 65. The amazing fact about this is that we spend a total of 100,000 hours of our lifetime working. Can you then imagine doing something that doesn’t give you fulfilment? One of the keys to career fulfilment therefore is to enjoy what you're doing. It's burdensome to be doing what you don't like or created to do. It's totally frustrating and time wasting. And that's the reason many people are not productive in their work. When I said productive, I'm not talking about acquiring material possessions because even some that engage doing what they don't enjoy doing have been able to acquire cars, built houses and have the 'toys of life'. Productivity here is mind creativity; a sense of fulfilment, a sense of joy that comes from doing what you are wired or created to do.  This is the difference between those working to make a living and those working to make

Declare

Welcome to a brand new week, I'm sure you are set to do small things in a great way. This morning I will like to share with you the importance of declaring good things into your day every morning. Each of us are made in the likeness of God and therefore we have God's ability within us. And one notable trait of Our maker is that He is a speaking Being.  Anytime He wants something done, He conceives it and then he declares it and certainly that's what happens. He conceived light and He said, 'let there be light' and there was light. He conceived animals, plants, trees and He spoke them to being. He conceived you and He said 'let us make man in our image' and here you are. Simply put, He speaks things that doesn't exist into existence! If God operates on this principle, you too can. You can conceive a thing, declare it and you will see it materialise. There is power on your tongue whether you are aware of it or not, and whatsoever you say is bound to

...YET

Welcome to a brand new Monday morning. The motivation for today is just very simple but powerful. All I need you to do is just discover the force behind a three letter word that will trigger your hope and faith as well as change your conversations. Ready? Let's take it in. There is a way you describe your circumstance or situation that reveals  whether you've given up or thrown in the trowel. At times it shows if you still have faith or not and whether you are still hopeful or not. For example, I don't have a job, I don't have a good job, I don't have money, I don't have the admission, i'm not married, I don't have a child, i'm not healed, the business isn't moving etc. As sincere as these statements are, there is a need to change those conversations and expressions. We must understand that whatever situation we are in, it's just for a while. Your present state is just a walkway to your hall of fame; a stage to prepare you for the brigh

Nigeria At 55: Look Back...Look Forward.

Yesterday, we celebrated our 55th independence anniversary and while pondering on what to write to commemorate our 55th independence day celebration, I discovered there are a lot of perspectives I could write from. So many topics and issues quickly raced through my mind, like, '55 Years After; How far so far?' 'Independence or Dependence, Where are we going? Etc. But in the midst of it all something exceptional dropped on my mind; which is Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving? Yes. Thanksgiving. Many would be quick to analyse, condemn, discuss and compare the state of the nation being 55 years after we got independence, well, that's not bad. But isn't it good for a man at 55 to thank God for the years past spent? Ask any 55 years old man and he will tell you it has been rough and tough, appointments and disappointments, joys and sorrows, ups and downs, successes and failures, but yet he will be grateful for the privilege of being alive to see 55. How does Nigeria fit in

M-Cube: BE GREAT

Welcome to Monday Morning Motivation (M-cube). Many times we are made to believe that greatness is just for some set of people. Many have believed it so much that their  minds have been twisted to believe in mediocrity. Here is the simple truth, God never created anyone to be small or to be a mediocre. He created us equally but what we later become is a function of what we do. Understand that life doesn't give you what you deserve, life gives you what you demand of it. Until you pursue greatness in your endeavour, you won't get it. You can get yourself enlisted among the great in your place of work, discipline, career, business, and wherever you desire to be named great. But note: Great Men are Visionaries, they are full of conviction and they welcome greatness. Great Men don't look backward; what's behind is gone. They look forward with great optimism. Great Men desire better things; they look forward to better days. Great Men are always tested and proved. They

August; Sudden Visitations

I remember anytime someone visits us unexpectedly we say this is an August visitor. We are surprised at the coming of the person and at the same time the person is highly welcomed. This actually doesn't mean the person came in August but it just denotes the arrival of an important person unexpectedly. Sudden Visitations brings with it surprises and blessings. For example, when God visited Sarah, barrenness was terminated, when He visited Obededom suddenly, Obededom became prosperous, when He visited Paul and Silas, their bond was loosed. And when he visits you too, your desires are met. Therefore, in this month of August, there shall be unexpected arrival of great things in your life. God will visit you this month. And understand that when God visits you, He doesn't come empty handed, He comes with a gift for you. I'm so full of assurance that you will have testimonies this month. Your head shall be lifted up, your hands shall be made strong , your feet shall be str

Relationships; Character Matters 2

Last week, we started a discussion on six pillars of character we must cultivate and build to have successful relationships. I hope you've started building your character on the three pillars discussed, which includes Trustworthiness, Respect and Caring. If you missed last Saturday's edition, just read it up quickly. Today, we shall be considering the remaining three pillars of character. 4. RESPONSIBILITY Many people run away from various forms of responsibility. But for a relationship that will work, both parties must be willing to take various necessary responsibilities that will propel the relationship forward. You must know and do your duty, and at the same time acknowledge and meet your legal (if you are married, or in a contractual relationship)  and moral obligations. Being responsible also requires that you are accountable. Accountability demands that you accept responsibility for the consequences of your choices, not only for what you do but what you don’t do.

Gratitude; Others deserve it too

An attitude of gratitude is one of the keys to attain a great altitude in life. Being grateful is not only to God, who of course deserves all the praise for all that he has done for you but also to people around you who have done you good. Many times we had failed to appreciate the people in our lives who have been there for us at one time or the other. It's expedient that we be grateful to the people who make us happy and better in life for they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. These people deserves to be appreciated. They deserve your gratitude. They deserve to be celebrated and they also deserve that you do good to them, even if not for anything but for the good they did to you. The story of Nabal and David in the bible is one of the stories that depicts the importance of doing good to others especially if they've been of help to you before. David and his men had delightfully preserved the sheep and servants of Nabal in the wilderness and when it

Relationships; Character Matters

I believe one of the major indicators of wealth is not just good grades, success at work or high intelligent quotient, a key indicator of wealth is relationships. Ask yourself two questions; how many people do I know and in monetary terms, how much are they worth? If you sincerely answer those two questions you will know how wealthy you are. And because of how important your relationships are, either with your family, friends, superior, colleagues at work, and most importantly with your fiancée/fiance or spouse, You have to build your character. It is good for you to know that you shouldn't choose your friends especially someone to go into courtship with by choosing their reputation  over there character, as it is character that lays the foundation for a solid relationship. That's why in building character, both parties must be actively involved, that is, as the other is building his/her character you're building yours too. If one is building and the other is looking, the

Free Yourself ; FORGIVE Pt 2

Free Yourself ; FORGIVE  Pt 2 Yesterday we started a series on forgiving others in the light of the scriptures and we concluded that forgiveness is what you do for yourself to get well and move forward. Today, I will be sharing with you on how the scriptures says we should forgive. HOW WE SHOULD FORGIVE 1. You must chose to forgive:  Forgiving others is sometimes not easy especially when the wrong done hurts deeply but we must chose to forgive. One of the work of the Holy Spirit is to help us therefore, when you chose to forgive the Holy Spirit will help you. 2. You must forgive from your heart. Matt.18:35. Genuine forgiveness is seeing the person next time without having a desire for revenge or dislike for the person. 3. You must forget it and make no mention of it again. Matt.18:35. Even though it takes time for hurts to heal, we must forgive and not make mention or refer to the hurt again. 4. Make allowances for others. Col.3:13. Understand that no one is perfect inclu

Free Yourself; Forgive

Free Yourself ; FORGIVE  Pt 1 Forgiveness is one of the keys to happiness and if there is anything hindering Christians from experiencing God’s best in their lives and walking in Christ abundant provision, it is un-forgiveness. Un-forgiveness is the refusal to let go of offences done to you and at the same time keeping grudges towards such a fellow. The most pathetic aspect of un-forgiveness is that many believers in the church find it difficult to forgive other church members. WHY IS IT NECCESARY TO FORGIVE 1. It is a commandment from God. God instructs us forgive others as many times they offend us. Truth be told forgiving people at times might not be easy but we must do it if we won't be disobeying our Master. (Luke17:3, 4) 2. Forgiving is a proof that the love of God dwells in you. How can you prove that the love of God which is shed abroad in your heart is truly in you if you can't forgive others when they offend you? (2Timothy 1:7, Romans 5:5) 3. To also ob

Monday Morning Motivation ; Attitude is Everything

Monday Morning Motivation (M-Cube) Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. Attitude is simply a mental state involving beliefs and feelings and values and dispositions to act in certain ways. Simply put, it's the way we act due to the mental picture and belief system formed within us. This makes attitude a product of the mind; thoughts. It is how you see the things around you, how you deal with the situations you face, and what you think about life. You've got to listen to yourself. If you sound like "God, my life is so difficult. I will never be rich... Everything works against me.... Everyone hates me...” then, you have a problem. Many times what hinders us from progressing in life and being the best is a negative attitude. A negative attitude is like a flat tyre, if you don't change it you're going nowhere. Even though we can't control the obstacles on our ways, we can control our attitude. If you maintain a positive attitude no m

Compatriots Arise

Nigeria got independence but there is no gain saying that we are still dependent. We kept quenching wild fire of war and violence in other countries yet we are victims of violence and war. A land blessed with an army of workforce but struggling to pay their wages for many months, leaving them and their families to suffer. Our economic growth which was acclaimed to be the best in Africa seems to be just a newspaper headline with no proof. How do we prove this? By economic development. Growth and development are two different things yet inter connected. The effect of growth is development, which is, the infrastructures we have, the per capital income of an household, the quality of education and health care system we have etc. So, can we then say we have literally grown economically? Nigeria is bleeding within and without with everyone promising to help but with no concise action. The disease called 'Boko-Haram' has been ravaging the country and it seems we won't get a

Break New Grounds

Happy new week! As you set out for activities this new week, I want to challenge you to break new grounds and do something different.  Dare to be different. Do something better than the way you’ve been doing it. Someone once said, if people knew what they had to do to be successful, most people wouldn't. Don’t be scared of taking new adventures or trying something new. Many of us know what we need to do to come out with distinctions, be the best employee, be a successful entrepreneur, the best spouse or make a relationship to work. Even we know what to do to have a glorious relationship with God. If we know, then, why wait a little longer? Why procrastinate? Yours might be that you just like to do and follow what every other person is doing. You enjoy moving with the crowd. You are always moving by what others do or do not. Let me echo this to your ears that the man who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. And the man who walks alone is likely to fin

MANNA CHRISTIANS

Happy Sunday to you and sure you had a great time in church today, well that's if you went anyway, *smiles*. On this Sunday edition, MARTHA Mosugu shares with us on 'manna Christians' Sit back, read and be blessed. MANNA CHRISTIANS. (JOHN 6:48-49). Our fathers indeed ate manna and are dead... A lot of us today make reference to the religiosity and self  righteousness of our fathers. We boast about their good works,(most of which of course were done in the flesh). We talk about their commitment in church and the society. All these are not in them selves bad, they simply worked with an idea in their minds, the idea of God. Although some lived a focused life, most of them never really got to know Him personally. They lived as manna Christians and died. Living right and doing good is living the 'manna' life. It is not enough to belong to a church or service unit or group. There's more. That more is the bread of life- Jesus. Just being part of a Christian b

SICKLE CELL DISEASE PT 2

Welcome to another session of medical tips with your number one Doctor, Dr Nshe MD. Last week we started a discussion on Sickle Cell Disease. If you missed it, you can quickly scroll to last Saturday's edition. By now I believe you would still be wondering why the emphasis on SCDx, these are the statistics of the condition in Nigeria; 20 out of every 1000 children are born with sickle cell disease, amounting to about 150, 000 births annually. 16% of under five mortality(deaths) that is 16 out every 100 children that die before age five is from sickle cell disease and 3,500,000 (3.5million) are living with the condition which makes it the most common inherited blood disorder. WHAT ARE THE TREATMENT OPTIONS? Attempts at complete cure are being worked on with bone marrow transplantation offering a way out. Bone marrow is the part of the bone where red blood cells are produced (manufactured) and if you can correct the problem "from source" thereby having RBCs that ar

Relationships: 5 Ways to Apologize

Because we are relational beings we tend to offend others and step on each other’s toe but then if we want to maintain a peaceful life and continue to enjoy our relationship with them we must know how to apologize. And because we are different and unique, each of us has a way of which we want the apology to be expressed. No wonder sometimes we apologize and it seems the other person is not satisfied. It’s not that you didn’t apologize just that you didn’t express it in the language they will understand. You must therefore understand the apology language of the other person in other for both of you to be reconciled. Therefore let me share with you five ways you express apology Expressing Regret: "I am sorry." "I feel badly that my behavior has hurt you so deeply." This language identifies with the emotions of the offended party. Accepting Responsibility: "I was wrong." Name your mistake and accept fault. "I should not have done that. There

Got a Strong Desire?

If you really WANT something you will get it. Desire is a force that cannot be easily stopped. Think about your goal, dreams and aspirations. How bad do you want them ?  Are you willing to sacrifice? Under what conditions will you give up?  If you want something badly enough, then quitting is simply not an option. You either find a way or make one. You pay the price, whatever it takes.Your desire is the fire that heats you up to perform, to excel. How do you then Intensify your desires? It starts by taking a piece of paper and writing down all the reasons WHY you want to achieve your goals, dreams and aspirations. List all the benefits you can imagine. The more reasons you'll find, the stronger your desire will get. Then make it a habit to read your list of benefits every morning, so as to stay connected with your goal during the day. That's all! With this you'll be more motivated and inspired to be all that God puts in your heart to be. Have a strong desire to suc

Amazing July; Advancing Life

Welcome to July!!! Every great man in the scriptures that did exploits for God had one thing in common, the Lord was with them. Talk of Enoch, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David, and the apostles. But what actually guaranteed the Lord to be with them was that they did things that pleased God always. Jesus said, 'And he that sent me is with me; the Father hath not left me alone for I do always those things that please him' John 8:29 Joseph, Moses, David, the Apostles and others including Our saviour Jesus were God -pleasers. They did things and took steps that pleased God per time. Therefore, as you embark on the journey of this second half of the year, prepare for exploits and supernatural advancement. But then, you need to move from being a Man-Pleaser to God-Pleaser. Do things that Please Him, talk to please Him, Walk to please Him and Live to please. But note, pleasing God comes through the help of the Holy Ghost. Therefore, rely on the Holy Ghost to help you live a

It's Possible With You!!!

Many times we've heard that all things are possible with God. Of course that's the truth. But then do you know that all things are possible with you too.?   Mark 9:23 "Jesus said unto him, "if you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes."  Whatsoever you believe in can definitely come to reality. There is never anything impossible. What we thought was impossible 30-50 years ago is now a reality today. The mind of a man is a manufacturing room where thoughts are fabricated. And if you can think it, you can have it. If it is in your heart then it can be in your hand.  Never say it's impossible. It might look impossible today but with your strong believe and persistence impossibility will turn to possibility. Don't give up on that dream, every dream has in it the potential to become a reality, its just a matter of time and commitment. There are two important things to get possibility  #1. Believe : Even Jesus couldn't do

Flexible But Focused

If you watch football, you'll notice that there are different formations (game plans, patterns); the 4 4 2, 4 3 3, 4 2 3 1 etc. Some favour the all attack, others the defence and sometimes both. Which ever one the coach and his team players decide to use, the most important thing is that the players get on the pitch and WIN. This is achieved by applying the formation initially practised in the main match and scoring goals. However what is sometimes obtained on the pitch may not seem to favour the initial game plan or formation, so the need for some adjustments. Thank God for 'half time' where coaches review their various game plans. The main goal still remains winning by scoring as many goals as possible,  defend too, in order not concede many goals. So it is with life, we have our God- given assignments(dreams) and also a perceived or prepared plan or pattern of achieving it. As we go on day by day, we do face challenges and difficulties. What we can do at such poin

Get Wisdom

Welcome to Sunday Special Edition. Wisdom is said to be the principal thing, that is the most important thing. Furthermore, wisdom is one of the things we are to seek as Christians. Therefore, today I will be sharing on Ten steps to gain Godly Wisdom. #1. Fear God (Psalm 111 vs.10). The fear of God is to be in reverential awe of God. Reverencing Him in all that you do is a platform to access Godly Wisdom #2. Please God. Ecclesiastic 2 vs.26. When you please God by the way you order your life and the things you do, wisdom will be released unto you. #3. Hear God. Proverbs 2 vs.16. You don't say God doesn't speak to you when your bible is closed. God speaks and He speaks all the time. Just like a transmitting station and a radio, you must tune your spirit to pick God's voice. #4. Look to God. Proverbs 3 vs. 13. When you are confused or in need, the first person to turn to is not man but God. Those that look to God are more enlightened than those that look to m

Saturday With Your Doctor ; Sickle Cell Disease (SCD)

Welcome to another edition of Saturday health tips with Dr Nshe MD Last week I gave a general overview of health and the various aspects of health and what you need to do to at least keep that aspect up and running. This week I am going to be talking about sickle cell disease. The World sickle cell day is 19th of June, yearly. This year like every other it was celebrated with the theme,"HOW RARE DISEASE AWARENESS LEADS TO QUALITY CARE, TREATMENT " What is this sickle cell disease? Sickle cell disease has become a common and foremost genetic disease worldwide which is must to cure through the fast awareness campaign, curable activities, early diagnosis and management. It is a genetic disease in that the father and mother of a child are responsible for the transmission of the disease to the child to make him/her SS or SC. This disease affects red blood cells. Sickle cell anaemia means person suffering from anaemia (less number of haemoglobin- red pigment in blood

House of Leaders or Warlords

As I ruminate on the ugly incidences that bewildered Benue House of assembly and the House of Representatives this outgoing week where law makers engaged in a free for all, I nodded my head in utmost dismay of what has become of the people we chose to lead us and make laws for us. This is not the first time we will be seeing something of such but every time it occurs it leaves a negative impression of incompetence, immaturity, clueless and law-less law makers on the heart of Nigerians and people all over the world watching.  I'm not a political analyst neither do I want to become one but i'm an advocate of good 'leaders-in-a-ship' and I believe that what the nation deserves at this time is a way forward from where we are not engaging in blow throwing and cloth tearing. Leadership is not by occupying position, that is, you are not a leader by being in an office or by holding a post. Leadership is all about influence. Its all about the ability to transform a vi

GETTING IT RIGHT Pt 3; Just before you Jump

Today, I will be concluding on the series Getting it Right. I hope you've been blessed reading and ruminating on it. Remember, it's not the reader that is blessed but the doer. Don't just read for reading sake, share it with others and do what is required of you. Let's consider the last temptation the devil gave and see how we are copying that too. 3. The devil said, if you are the Son of God jump down for the scripture says he shall give his angels charge over thee and in their hand they shall bear thee up, lest at anytime thou dash thy foot against a stone. But Jesus said, thou shalt not tempt the Lord your God. For some of us that think the devil does not know the scripture, you must have realised how wrong you're from that verse. I don't think it's right to compare ourselves with the devil but on a serious note how will the devil know the scripture and you the child of God, the owner of the Words doesn't know it not to talk of quoting it ver

GETTING IT RIGHT PT 2

Yesterday, we started a discussion  on the temptation of Jesus and how we also have been copying the devil in 'testing /tempting' God. In other to make the most of our calling and enjoy more of God's abundant blessings we must get things right. Getting it right starts from changing our age long beliefs and way of doing things that has profited us nothing. Let's consider the second temptation  2. Devil told Jesus, if you bow down to worship me all these things(the kingdom of the world) you're seeing I will give unto you, for it has been delivered unto me and to whomever I will I give it. Jesus responded and said get thee behind me Satan, it is written thou shalt worship the Lord your God, and him only shalt thou serve. The devil desires that Jesus worships him by virtue of what was delivered unto him, what he got cunningly and not even what he created, because the devil can not create anything. Interestingly many of us also want God to bow down to our will

Getting it Right.

GETTING IT RIGHT We all are familiar with the temptation of Jesus by the devil and we saw how Jesus overcame him. Peradventure you don't remember the story well or you don't know about it, just stop and read it in Luke 4 vs. 1-13 before you continue reading. The devil from the scripture gave three temptations, 1. To turn bread to stone, 2. To bow down and worship him and 3. To prove if he is the son of God by jumping down. I've heard this temptations being preached many times, and i'm made to see the wily of the devil and the Word-filled Jesus overcoming those temptations with the word. But then, I began to look at the temptation critically and I discovered that these same temptations the devil gave to Jesus, we are doing same to God too. How? I will explain later. We stylishly copy, even though not intentionally the act of the tempt and then use it. Let's consider the first temptation today and then consider the remaining later; 1. The devil said "turn

M-Cube : Goal Setting

M-Cube: Goal Setting Today on M-Cube(Monday Morning Motivation) I will be sharing on the key to successful goal setting. Goal setting provides an opportunity to bring the future to the present so that you can deal with it today. John 3:8 says "the wind bloweth where it listeth...' Many have read this verse and misunderstood it to be that the wind doesn’t have direction and it  moves anywhere, everywhere, and so we are to live life with no direction, no focus with statement like "as the spirit leads..."  It says the wind blows where it listeth (will, wants), it moves in a particular course, direction, where he wants. It has direction and that's why even though you don't know where it's coming from or where it's going, it knows where it is going. And Jesus compared a spirit-filled believer to a wind, which simply means, even though others don't know where you are coming from or where you are going, you should know where you are going by God'
