FINISHING STRONG

Photo Credit: Google.  There is no disputing the fact that many Christians are doing wonderfully well in terms of activities and exploits. The number of people going to church has increased greatly and it will continue to increase. While you will also agree with me that there are numerous churches these days than we had 10-15 years ago. But unfortunately, we have people going to church and not going to heaven. We have succeeded in raising church goers and not heaven goers. Three years ago I came across this scripture, Matthew 7:21-23 in the message translation and ever since I saw it in my diary this year, it has been on my mind to share it with you. It reads, "Knowing the correct password—saying ‘Master, Master,’ for instance—isn’t going to get you anywhere with me (Christ). What is required is serious obedience—doing what my Father wills..." emphasis mine. Countless times we've heard obedience preached and discussed and it seems the more we hear, the less w...

Lifting Up

While discussing with a friend late last year, I was told of the prophecy concerning the nation’s economy. Interestingly what was prophesied (economic meltdown), is already coming to pass. Just two months and it seems everything has crumbled. The nation’s economy has been on a fast decline and even the foetus in the womb could feel it. What of deaths? You will agree with me that many lives were lost these two months that makes one ponder on the brevity of life.  All these are not new to humanity. It has happened before and there were some individuals that were not affected by the economic situation. There was economic meltdown in the days of Abraham, yet he was the richest, he wasn't affected. It happened in the days of Isaac, yet he was exempted, he rather became wealthier to the extent that the people of the country began to envy him. It happened in the days of Jacob, yet Jacob had enough money to buy food in Egypt while others are exchanging lands and lives for food.  ...

Favour Demystified

W elcome to another Wednesday’s insight series.  I believe you are set to get another insight today so, let’s dive in. Dictionary defines favour as an act of kindness done or granted out of goodwill. It is also to show preferential treatment to someone. Favour is derived from the same root word as Grace, CHARIS. And this makes favour to be as powerful as grace. But while grace is totally unmerited and unearned, favour can be deserved, gained and entreated. There are two dimensions of favour; favour with God and favour with man. The greatest dimension is to be in favour with God because when you have that, favour with man comes cheaply.  You don’t beg for man’s favour when you are in favour with God, God himself will cause men to favour you-He will cause you to find favour with people regardless of how high and mighty they are.  Another truth about favour is that it does not have prejudice for colour, race, gender or location. You’re a candidate for favour as long...

Time Management

Since there is no universally accepted definition of time, many have tried to define time their own way. Either you know how to define time or not, the fact still remains that you are bound by time. Every human being, both Rich and Poor have the same time available to them but how effective you manage it determines how successful you'll be. Time defines life. And that’s why time management is life management. Let me define time management. Time management is the skilful handling and controlling of ones time to accomplish a successful life. There are 8 truths you should know about time that shows the importance of time management Time is Limited Time is Elusive Time is Impartial Time is no respecter of person Time cannot be stored Time cannot be hoarded Time cannot be spent in advance Time cannot be retrieved. To be a highly successful person in all endeavours, you must not just learn but be effective in managing your time well. In managing time there are various iss...

EFFECTIVE AND PRACTICAL GOAL SETTING PT 2

Welcome back. Yesterday I started sharing with you on how to make your dreams and aspirations come to reality through practical and effective goal setting. And I gave you three steps towards having an effective goal and achieving them. I talked about having a picture, having a reason and having it SMART. If you missed it you can read it here . Today I will take you through the remaining three. 4. Have it NOW .  Once the goal is set, the time to start working on it is NOW. The perfect time to start is NOW, not next week or next month. Those goals require small steps to be taken daily to accomplish them. Don’t wait for perfect conditions or opportunity to start, such don’t exist. Don’t postpone them till tomorrow. Today: I will do it tomorrow, tomorrow: I will do it tomorrow and on like that and you realise tomorrow never come. Everyday write out the steps you will take that day to achieve your set goals. Beware of procrastination. It doesn't just steal your time it kills your...

EFFECTIVE AND PRACTICAL GOAL SETTING PT 1

Have you ever been conscious of what happens when you pronounce 2016? You might want to try it now to see. You will realise you can’t pronounce 2016 without smiling. I believe that’s a sign that 2016 is going to be a great year for you and you will be smiling all through the year. You’re Welcome. Today I will be sharing with you on Practical and Effective Goal Setting. This is because I don’t want this year to be an ordinary year for you. I want it to be a great one where all your desires and aspirations would be achieved.  The truth is, you have all the capacity to become all you’re designed for but until you go for them, you’ll remain the same.  People that will accomplish great things in life rarely sit back and let things happen to them, rather, they go out and happen to things. They set goals and achieve them. Understand that life without goals set and achieved is life wasted.  That’s why you’ll need to set goals in every aspect of your life so as to...

Bright Day

As I woke up this morning, the song that came to my mind was one of the songs we sang during my primary school days: 'the day is bright, it's bright and clear, O happy day, the day of joy, the day is bright, it's bright and clear, O happy day of joy'. Guess you remember it right? Does it make any sense today being the first working day of the year? I believe it does. The day is bright, full of opportunities to advance and move forward to achieving your goals and targets. The day is clear- a brand new day to set the pace, to kick start all you had highlighted for the year 2016, and clear enough to begin to write the success story of this year in your career, academics, businesses, relationships, calling etc. It's a happy day because this is the first monday in 2016 and you are privileged to see it. Happy day because it's starting a new dawn in your life and endeavours. Thirdly, it's just must be a beautiful one for you. And finally it's your day of joy...
